Just a catch up after a very busy three days at Kartsport Wellington
A great night was had on Friday night at the 50th Anniversary dinner with over 150 of our current and past members attending, some great stories told, good food, and it was excellent to see a large amount of our Life Members being recognised with special awards. Special thanks must go to Andrew and Michelle Donohue for organising the evening and Phil Davy for the Vintage Karts.
Saturday at the track saw a lovely clear and calm day with a total of fourty karts contesting 5 classes, good clean racing, and some great driver displays in the Vintage Kart Races. Also alot of our past members where there having a look around and watching the days racing.
Sunday started off clear and calm but with rain and wind predicted and that prediction really came through, by the time we were ready for our pre finals it was poring down and a very wet and different track from Saturday. Still some very close racing and the day was all over by mid afternoon. Some of the Vintage Karts even braved the weather and were again great to watch.
Some very special thanks must go out to our members who came and helped at the event by flagging out on the track and helping in the tech shed, on both days. Sundays weather was a real test and you all did well.
Some great results overall for Wellington members and we gave away close to $6000 in prize money at the prize giving. As this event grows and with word around about the prize money on offer we should see this event become bigger and bigger.
Very special thanks must go to our main sponsor Upper Hutt City Council, Class sonsors, Lascom Motorsport, Mikes Glass, Clinic Eleven, Typeface, and all the other sponsors who purchased tickets to make the event possible.
