November Clubday

Clubday is this coming Sunday 20 November. Race direction is clockwise ( normal direction ). We will be having 20 lap finals for each class. Duty class is all senior drivers and there helpers. Remember if you are on duty it is your job to set up all the flags, bins etc in the morning and empty all the bins away at the end of the day. With 20 lap finals time will be tight so we will be running the morning to schedule, scrutineering from 7.45am to 8.30am, drivers briefing at 8.45am and on the track at 9.00am. If you are late you run off the back for the day.

Tech Officer Training

This Sunday we will be joined by John Lennox from Kartsport NZ who is bringing a team of Tech Officers to the track for the day to do some training. They will be observing us at scrutineering and doing various different tasks during the day, so you might get your tyres marked, or engines and chassis sealed, kart weighed, clutch tested, etc. They will not be teching engines etc. This is soley a training day, please make the Tech Officers welcome and help them where you can. They play an important role within Kartsport, and we have a couple of our members there who will be doing the training.

Flag Point Training

Also joining us this coming clubday will be a group of young men from Hutt International Boys School ( HIBS ). HIBS are the local school that have teamed up with Kartsport Wellington to host the National Schools meeting in July next year. We are using a group from HIBS to train as flag point helpers for our three big events next year. They will be out in the flag points during the morning. We ask that when you are out in a flag point this Sunday please talk them through what is happening out on the track and what to look for. We do struggle with numbers of helpers for our big events and it will be good to have a trained group we can call on for these events.

Manfield Superkart Flag Marshals

A reminder we are hosting the Superkart Nationals at Manfield on Saturday 7 January 2012. This is a great event to watch and where better than right by the action out on the track at a flag point. I need a total of 12 helpers to cover the six flag points, so far I have four, so need another eight of you. A great day and you can all go as a family into a flag point. We can help with transport to Manfield if you need.

Annual Prize Giving

Well done to all of you who attended our annual prize giving night at The Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club. We had a great night with good number of members and from all the feedback a good meal. For those who could not make it I will bring the remaining trophies to clubday this Sunday.

This Website

This is the site for you, our members to use. The Conway Karts trackcam has some new updates with more images on display. Also remember that we need you to load your driver profiles and information on our members business pages a great way to promote yourself to our members. Links are available to various photos of clubdays etc, along with entry forms for CIK and Manfield Superkarts. Just email the web editor if you have more ideas.

Finally

The Sparkarts (thanks to Stu Park) $250 prize draw for a kart service will again be on offer to all Kartsport Wellington members this clubday.

There is quite a bit of construction work going on at the moment, and some trees that have been felled. Please keep kids out of the very top carpark, and also all please stay off the newly excavted areas behind the tech shed.

See you all Sunday.

Regards,

Wayne Keats
