September Clubday
Clubday is this coming Sunday 18 September. This is our annual ENDURO meeting and you will of all received the flier sent out earlier this week with all the details and thanks to our sponsors for the day. We will be running in the normal track direction ( clockwise ). Duty class for the day is all Senior drivers, so make sure you are there to help set up and tidy up at the end of the day. We will be running to a strict timetable to get the day through with scrutineering from 7.45am to 8.30am with karts on the track at 9.00am. Late comers will run from the back all day. Remember this is a trophy event so there will be kart weighing and engine teching on the day. Any drivers and teams who will be re fueling remember to bring ground sheets with you.
Enduro Parking
We will be fairly tight for parking this clubday. Because the Mechanical Lane will be used for the ENDURO the Bucket Bikes will be using trailer parks 1 through to 11, which is all the area behind the Tech Shed. Karters please dont use this area this weekend. it is for the bikes. There are plenty of other parks up around the club house etc.
Revving Kart Engines
In the latest rules round sent by Kartsport NZ, there is a new rule regarding the revving of kart engines. Each kart club must now have an area set aside for the revving of kart engines, and this is the only area karts can be revved at high speed. This rule is being phased in over the next 12 months. However Kartsport Wellington has decided to implement this rule immediatley. So from the September clubday onwards the only place that karts may be high revved is the two parks beside the main entrance gate to the track. This is the area as you enter our track on the left side of the entry gate, in front of the drive up to the very top car park.
Annual Prize Giving
You will of all received the note regarding the date change for our annual prize giving. Prize giving this year will be held on Friday 4 November starting from 6.30pm at the Cosmopolitan Club Upper Hutt. There will be a buffett dinner and cash bar. We will be giving out trophies for Annual Points, Club Champs and Enduro meetings. Ticket forms will be available at clubday and also sent to you all soon. Mark the date now.
SparkKarts Prize Package
Well done to our prize winner from last month and remember the $250.00 prize package for a kart service with Stu Park at Sparkarts is again on offer for this coming clubday. All All Kartsport Wellington members who enter on the day will be in the draw at prize giving.
Club Improvements
At present there is a 20 ton digger on site. John Picard is busy clearing the area behind the Lascom straight, to create more car and trailer parks. We need to create this extra area so that we have enough parking to host the Kartsport Nationals in 2013. If you are going to the track to practice please let John know you are there and also check the track in case any debris has fallen down. Thank you for your help with this.
Calendar Dates
Here are some dates to mark in your diaries:
7 January 2012, we are hosting the Super Karts at Manfield, we will need about 12 members to help with the flagging for the day
27 to 29 January 2012, we are again hosting The CIK Trophy of NZ we will be hiring people to cover the flag points, but will need about 12 members each day to cover Parc Ferme, recovery etc
6 to 8 July 2012, we are hosting the National Schools meeting , again we will be hiring people to cover the flag points, but will need about 8 members for the other roles
Finally
We will shortly be sending you all a survey to complete. This is your chance to tell us what you think, what we are doing well and what we need to improve, please when the survey arrives take the time to complete it and return. your feed back is important.
A members profile page is being set up on the web page. This is where you can put in a bit of a profile about yourself. More details when it is ready to go.
Kartsport New Zealand annual conference was held late August in Rotorua. We were represented by Phil Davy and Gary Wilson. Both came back very positive and reported to the committee that Kartsport NZ are going along well with lots of new ideas coming through to help with growing our club and sport.
Congratulations also to Andrew Donohue who was elected to the Kartsport NZ executive for the next two years. It is great to have one of our members as a voice in this important role.
See you all Sunday!
