The Kartsport Wellington April clubday, is Sunday 27 April. This is one week later due to the Kartsport Nationals being held in Blenheim over Easter. Clubday will be in the normal direction and the usual 5 heat format. Duty class for the day is all Junior drivers. Gates open from 7.30am, scrutineering from 8.00am, drivers briefing at 8.50am, and on the track from 9.00am.

A reminder that entries are now open for the Kartsport Wellington Club Champs, which this year will be a two day event over the weekend of 17 and 18 May. For Club Champs you do need to pre-enter. Entries forms are on the club website, and we will email them out again shortly. They will also be available at the April clubday. For this event we will also be joined by the Vintage karts who will be doing some demonstration runs among our heats. There are minimum numbers for a class to contest Club Champs, so make sure you chase your fellow karters along to enter. Club Champs is just like a clubday, just with a few more rules, and expect to be weighed after every heat, and technical inspections will happen throughout the race days. To qualify for Club Champs you must be a full financial member of kartsport Wellington at the close of entries which is Sunday 11 May.

The Kartsport Wellington AGM will be held this year on Thursday 29 May 2014. Venue is The Tattlers Room, Angus Inn, Lower Hutt, starting at 7.30pm. To hold the AGM we need a minimum amount of our members to attend, and each year we only just get there, so please put the date in your diaries now. This is your chance to have a say, about the club, or any changes you might like to see, or any ideas you have. The AGM notices will come out to you all soon.

All memberships to Kartsport Wellington expired on 31 March 2014. To renew your membership for the next 12 months you need to fill in the new membership forms and get them back to us. They were recently emailed to you all. For those members who have keys to the track, the gate lock will be changed on 1 May 2014. At the present time there is an old and the new lock on the gate, so your old key will work up until 30 April. You will also need to complete a new key application form. There will be membership and key forms for you to fill in at the April clubday. Membership cards and keys will be posted out once we have the completed forms.

Over the last few clubdays we have undertaken some random weighing of the various classes. There seems to be a bit of a pattern with certain members coming across the scales below the required weight for their class. As a club we allow a bit of tolerance for brand new members and their first day. However there cannot be constant karters coming across the scales underweight. From the April clubday any karters coming across the scales underweight will have the appropriate Kartsport NZ rule applied which is a disqualification from the heat you were under weight in. Sorry we are having to get hard on this, but the rules are there for a reason. This will be discussed and reminded to you all at drivers briefing at the April clubday.

Good luck to all our members who are travelling to the Kartsport Nationals in Blenheim at Easter. A good number going with at least 10 of our members making the trip, go hard and bring us back some trophies.

Charmaine our Secretary will be away from 16 April to 30 April, so during this time there will be no membership cards or keys sent out. These will all get done on Charmaines return.

See you all soon, Regards, Wayne Keats, Club Captain
